It’s not often that I have two hours to be alone at home during non business hours. There are a dozen things I should be doing but I gave myself permission to write and reflect about the past ten days.
Easter weekend we piled into a rented minivan (my mom won’t fly) due north to Cincinnati to be with family.
While there, we visited with my Uncle Jerry who I haven’t seen since December of 2025. He was an influential part of my childhood and would frequently take me along on vacations - Bermuda more than once, road trips through California, England, Scotland, etc. He was a connoisseur and salesman extraordinaire. He had me tasting at Rombauer when I was barely 14 and sampling Kentucky Bourbon not long after. It was mango daiquiris and snorkeling with the locals at The Reefs in Bermuda with duck for dinner. He is, in large part, to blame for my champagne tastes.
In February of this year, he went missing.
